andy-proudDreaming about raising money to help others as a young lad was always something I had in my head, I used to think about completing an awesome challenge like running a marathon or walking a long way across the Scottish Highlands on my own, but always scared myself with thoughts of going the wrong way and getting lost or not having the right clothing to wear, so I would basically talk myself out of it before I even got any sort of a real plan together, that was until one day my wife and I met a retired postman who told us about a footpath that went from his house in Ilkley Yorkshire to Bowness in the Lake District and how he was going to walk it on his own, this was then the topic of conversation for the whole evening.

So the next day my wife encouraged me to go and find out more information about this special footpath that travelled over 80 miles. A plan was hatched, a 3-day run / walk on my own and I had the start of an exciting adventure, unbeknown to me something I had been planning since I was a small boy, from reading comic books and secret7 adventures as a young lad, being outdoors caravanning with my parents, reading books about adventurers, listening the to talks from famous mountaineers especially Ranulf Fiennes’s talk at a conference in London. This set me on a path of amazing adventures…

Fund Raising

During the past 5 years with so much help from many close family, friends, work colleagues & associates and even a very kind Lord Mayor & Lady Mayores, we have found a success formula and completed lots of supermarket bag packing, fund raising evenings, black tie events and encouraged many companies to sponsor our events, as part of a group & association we have now raised over £120,000 some has gone to local good causes and the main priority has been to support our Forces & their families who are effected by war via ABF The Soldiers Charity.

A chance meeting with a Special Soldier

In 2010 some friends and I were completing in the St Helen’s 10k, when we met a triple amputee Soldier who 6 months earlier had led his patrol out in Afghanistan and stepped on a IED and lost both his legs and his right arm, Corporal Andy Reid was actually attempting to walk the 10k and we were so taken back by his tenacity and determination and ‘Can Do’ spirit, this drove us on through some pretty tough training to raise as much money as we could to help Andy and others in similar situations.

Since this time we have kept in touch with Andy and he has joined us on a couple of our major challenges, riding his specially adapted bike from Preston to John O’Groats to aid the team in creating a new world record in 2013.
